Meet Kevin Horstmann: Our New GM of People & Culture

Access GM

Sydney, NSW – We are thrilled to announce that Kevin Horstmann has officially joined Access Industries as our new General Manager of People & Culture, Human Resources.

With a rich background spanning over 20 years in people, culture, and leadership, Kevin brings a wealth of expertise across diverse sectors—including health, education, the not-for-profit space, and corporate environments.

Why Access?

Kevin shares that he is genuinely excited to be part of the Access Industries community and to contribute to an organisation with such a profound purpose. Reflecting on his appointment, he shared:

“I’m really excited to be part of Access and to contribute to an organisation with such a strong purpose and long history of creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disability. I see a great opportunity to build on the strengths of the organisation while helping Access navigate the changes taking place across the disability sector, workforce and broader world of work.”

Driving Impact and Innovation

In his role, Kevin aims to make a tangible difference by aligning human resources with broader organisational goals. His core focus areas include:

  • Strengthening Connection: Bridging the gap between people, culture, and overarching organisational strategy.
  • Empowering Leadership: Supporting our leaders to lead well and foster inclusive team environments.
  • Building Capability: Developing talent and capability right across the organisation.
  • Enabling Thriving Workplaces: Designing the systems and environment that empower our people to thrive and allow Access to perform at its best.

Why People & Culture?

We’re moving from Human Resources (HR) to People & Culture (P&C). This is more than a name change. It reflects a shift in how Access supports both people and the organisation.

Kevin adds, “While traditional HR is often focused on processes, compliance and administration, People & Culture takes a broader approach by developing capability, strengthening leadership, fostering a positive culture and ensuring our people practices support our purpose and strategy.

As Access aligns to its new strategy and operating model, the focus is on creating an environment where people can thrive, grow, and do their best work. By connecting our people, culture and systems to our organisational goals, we can better support both our workforce and the communities we serve.

I look forward to working with our teams across Access as we continue building a workplace where people feel valued, capable and connected to our purpose.”

Looking Ahead

True to his collaborative leadership style, Kevin’s immediate priority is getting to know our people, our operations, and what makes Access special. Following this listening tour, he looks forward to working closely with the team to identify areas where we can continuously improve, innovate, and evolve together.

Beyond the Office

When he isn’t shaping workplace culture and supporting our workforce, you can find Kevin catching waves surfing, staying active, or enjoying quality time with his family.
