How We Support NDIS Employment

Employment planning and support is an important part of supported employment services. The process starts with an assessment of an individual’s skills, abilities and employment goals. This information is used to develop an individualised employment plan that outlines the steps to achieve those goals. Employment planning may involve identifying job opportunities, preparing for job interviews and arranging workplace modifications. Once employment is secured, we provide ongoing support to help the individual maintain their job and overcome any challenges they may face. This support can include job coaching, regular check ins and assistance with any required job modifications. By providing continuous support employment services help people with disability to achieve and succeed in their chosen careers.

Employment Rights and Entitlements

People with disability employed through supported employment services have the same rights and entitlements as any other employee. This includes the right to fair pay, safe working conditions and equal treatment in the workplace. Supported employment services must comply with relevant laws and regulations such as the Fair Work Act and the Disability Discrimination Act, so supported employees are treated with respect and dignity.

Additionally, people employed through supported employment services may be eligible for other entitlements such as the Disability Support Pension and other government benefits. These entitlements provide financial support and help people with disability achieve a good quality of life while pursuing their employment goals. By knowing and advocating for their rights, supported employees can have a fulfilling employment journey.

How to apply for a Supported Employment role

We’ve made the application as straightforward as possible:

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest. A short form with your contact details, location preference, and what kind of work appeals to you.
  2. Initial chat. One of our team will reach out within about 3 business days to talk through your goals and answer questions.
  3. Site tour and trial. Meet the team, see the workshop, and try a shift or two to see if it’s a fit.
  4. Plan your NDIS supports together. We co-design your support plan to draw on your NDIS funding and match your goals.

You don’t need an approved NDIS plan in hand to start the conversation. Get in touch first, and we’ll work with you on the rest.

Frequently asked questions

From submitting an Expression of Interest, most candidates have an initial conversation within 3 business days, a site tour within 2 weeks, and a clear plan within 4 weeks. Timing depends on your NDIS plan status and which site you’re looking at.

No. You can start the conversation with us first. We’ll talk through what you’re looking for and help you work out what to ask your support coordinator or LAC to include in your plan.

We operate in three locations: Seven Hills (Western Sydney), Hamilton (Newcastle), and Lithgow. Each site runs different industries. Get in touch and we’ll suggest the best fit based on your location and the kind of work you’re interested in.

Days are structured. You’ll have a job coach on-site every day, a defined role with clear tasks, regular breaks, and a team of peers. Hours and shifts are designed around what suits supported employees, not just operational demand.

Yes. Many of our supported employees explore different roles over time. We support transitions between sites and industries when it’s the right move for you, and we can pair role changes with relevant training through Access Knowledge.

That’s where our customised employment program comes in. After building skills and confidence in supported employment, many of our team move into open-market roles with ongoing support. We help match you with employers who suit your goals and provide post-placement support.
