Role with Access Job Coach
In my role as a Job Coach with Access, I provide direct support and guidance to individuals with disability in the workplace. My focus is on helping supported employees build skills, develop confidence, and maintain meaningful employment by offering encouragement, positive strategies to help them gain skills, and setting up goals they can achieve, and practical training tailored to their needs.
Background and Previous Roles
I bring an experience of 5 years, working in the health industry, like disability support, day programs, Nursing, and assistance in nursing. I have also got 4 years in other areas of work, like hospitality and retail. In my previous positions, I have supported individuals to reach personal and professional goals, managed workplace challenges, developed strong skills in coaching, problem-solving, and the importance of meaningful connections, and collaborated with teams to create inclusive and productive environments.
Some of my key achievements include Cert IV in Disability, Diploma in Leadership and Management skills, Employee of the Year 2022, completing my Nursing course, building positive relationships with employers to create sustainable opportunities, positive individual developments, successful placements, and recognition awards.
What Attracted Me to This Role
I was drawn to this role because of my passion for supporting people to overcome barriers, help them gain skills, and succeed in employment. The opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives, while working in a supportive and inclusive environment, was a strong motivator for me to join Access. I am passionate about helping people unlock their potential while also empowering them with skills and see their progress firsthand is what makes this role so rewarding.
What I Hope to Achieve
Through this role, I hope to help participants build independence, increase workplace confidence, and develop valuable long term skills. I also aim to foster positive connections with employers to promote inclusive practices and opportunities while encouraging inclusive workplace practices and contributing to a supportive and collaborative team at Access.
I am committed to continuous learning and professional growth, with a strong interest in vocational training, mental health awareness, leadership. I highly value teamwork, integrity and resilience, I look forward to contributing positively to both employees’ journeys and the Access community.
